Giuseppe Ganga is an Italian artist who lives and works in the town of Alcamo, near Palermo. The artist's production
includes painting, sculpure, lythography and xerigraphy. Inspired also by the ancient Greek world, his imagery refers to its
mythology through a novel interpretation of its myths. The logo created for the association HERMES (European Researchers
for Migration and Ethnic Studies) reveals the artist's passion for the classical world. Hermes, in the ancient Greek mythology,
was the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia. As a messenger of the gods, he travelled across boundaries (symbolised here by the
wholeness of the globe) and acted as an interpreter to the humans of hidden meanings. Here Hermes is represented through
his caduceus, a winged staff entwined with two snakes.
